Part 3:playing Phenom X4 with 3Dmark06
After last week's Superpi (part 1) and yesterday's Crysis benchmark (part 2), some of our readers want to see 3Dmark06 result. And here it is.
All this tests are run in default setting.
The test focus on the difference of core architecture, so all the frequency are set to the same. As before, we are using a unlocked ES version Phenom X4.
In AMD test bed we are using the up-coming RD790 mobo. And in Intel test bed we are using P35. Including games, all the setting are in default. We are using GF 8800GTX,Driver is 169.02 WHQL. integrated Soundcard using Realtek 1.80 driver, and OS is XP SP2(DX9).
We set all the memory to "By SPD"(by SPD= 5-5-5-18). But when we are using the Phenom X4 platform, CPU-z wrongly detected the timing as 5-5-7-18. Please wait for the CPU-Z's further update. The AMD test bed's memory frequency is 375MHz(x2). We already know the issue.
Why CPU-Z shows Phenom X4 only have single channel? |
From the final result, Phenom only lose QX6850 about 5.5%. But the CPU Score is losing 9.11% . If the rival change to QX9650, the gap will even bigger. If we compare to other subitem, that dual core E6850 will boost Graphic system better than Phenom X4. Comparing to Phenom X4 and E6850, All the advantage score are coming from the CPU score. Phenom X4 does bad in HDR and SM subitem tests.
In fact, LOTs of games are are not have the enough dual core or quad core optimize than 3Dmark06. In other test, you may find out even a dual core Core 2 is better than Phenom X4. That means not enough optimize support for our Phenom X4.
Remember the highest version of Phenom X4 is 9700, and it's frequency is only 2.6GHz. AMD wont let 3GHz out that easliy.
