We already have a post about the Nvidia 65nm new 8400 GS. And today we will continue to talk about AMD's5nm RV620.
In the current market the main selling point of the low-end graphics cards is HD video playback, game performance is second. Of course, in HD playback, AMD gone more than the extreme, not only to achieve the first H.264 and VC-1 full hardware decoding (we believe that the current software still failed to full-use of this function), but also have built-in HDMI output signal.
Now AMD has no decided to go further in the low-end products, using the latest 55 nanometer product line RV620 core and built-in Display Port to meet the increasing market demand for HD playback. Early next year, AMD will introduce 7 RV620. All seven RV620's memory bandwidth is 64 bit, support PCIe 2.0, DirectX 10.1, and of course the most critical integrated UVD and software crossfire. We can see ,four RV620 are using DisplayPort, the Manchster and Porto even offered two DP, Enough to meet the general use of a HD playback users. We now just hope that in the official publication date AMD can deliver us a greatly improved driver that can enable the hareware decode fully.
In board design, AMD also gives full consideration to the high-definition market, there are three low profile design for small chassis.
While we already know that the RV620 samples will be completed on December 19, and the cards will officially released early next year , but it actually depend on 65nm new 8400GS's pressure.If the performance of 8400 GS is not that good, AMD is likely to adjust its sale plan.
BTW, today we have some info about the new 8400GS: 8400GS may only have 8 GS SP.
在昨天我们已经披露过Nvidia准备在低端市场上所推出65纳米新版8400GS的一些相关资料。而在今天我们将继续谈一下AMD推出的高清显卡：55纳米RV620。
在目前市场上的低端显卡都是以高清播放为主要卖点的，游戏性能的表现反而退居第二位。当然在高清回放上，AMD要比NV走得更为极致，不仅首先实现了H.264和VC-1全硬件解码（当然我们认为目前的软件仍然未能很好地完善这一功能），而且还可以输出原生的HDMI信号。
而现在AMD现在决定在低端产品上更进一步，利用最新的55纳米产品线RV620核心，原生输出Display Port信号来满足市场上日益增加的高清需求。在明年年初，AMD将会推出7款使用RV620核心的高清显卡。这七款RV620显存带宽都为64 bit，支持PCIe 2.0，DirectX 10.1，当然也集成了最为关键的UVD和软交火。不过在RV620系列里面，Red Star则支持性能更好的硬件Crossfire。
如上图，在这七款使用了怪异代号的RV620上，多达四款使用了原生的DisplayPort，其中的Manchster和Porto甚至还提供了两个DP接口。足够满足一般高清用户的使用了。希望到正式发布此系列显卡的时候，AMD的驱动可以大大改进，全面发挥RV620的高清回放特色。
而在板卡的设计上，AMD也充分考虑到了高清市场，在RV620系列里就有三款刀板设计，让小型机箱的用户也可以使用RV620。
虽然我们已经知道，最早的RV620样品将会在12月19日完成，并在明年年初正式发布这一系列RV620显卡，但这其实和NV的65纳米新版8400GS发售所带来的压力也很有关系。如果8400GS的表现一般，AMD很可能会调整其发售计划。
对了，今天我们得到了一些8400GS的最新消息：8400GS很可能只有8SP。究竟在低端市场上，AMD能否扳回一城呢？我们将会继续观察。
